Hey there, folks!!! I haven't blogged since V-day, so I have a lot of stuff to write about. Okay, well, first things' first, that amazing boy, excuse me, MAN, LOL, Daniel J. Gokey!!! lol. OMG!!! I was so amazed when he did Mariah Carey's "Hero"! lol. He not only looked amazing, but he did an amazing job!!! So glad he is in the Top 12!!!!!! My mom has already said that he could win this!! lol. She said he's got the look and the voice. UGH!! No one has any idea how that makes me feel!! I was grinning like a freak when Ryan said he was safe.
The next thing I wanna talk about is my great-aunt, Laurrentina, but we call her Teen. She's 89, going through the early stages of Alzhiemers', and we decided to put her in a personal care home. I feel so bad that we had to do that, but it would have had to be done sooner or later. She fell once in the apartment that she was living in, and she said that she was fine, but when my mom was going through her stuff here, she found a picture that was taken after the incident, and it looked like someone had beat her up. Because of the Alzhiemer's, she's forgetting where things are, such as the bathroom, and where she's putting things, and certain people, and she claims she's missing her purse, and has already accused her previous neighbor of taking it. She told my mom that when my mom called her this morning to see if they got the phone hooked up in her room yet. She didn't even remember my mom having dinner with her just this past Sunday, when my mom and dad finished moving her in to the home. She will be there a week tomorrow. She claims she's making friends, but I actually do believe that, because the staff makes all the residents come to the cafeteria for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. When my mom came back from having dinner with her, mom was saying that what she ate for dinner was the most that my mom has ever seen her eat. She's always been slow with everything, my mom said, even when she was younger. She only weights 94 pounds!!! That's only 14 more than me!!! lol.
The next topic on the list is making these baby blankets for my friend, Nicole. I was originally going to make a orchid purple/light yellow striped one for a girl, but the plan has changed, but not the colors. I am starting out with purple (33 rows) and then going into yellow (again 33 rowss. But I'm still debating on the tassles. I think I may jsut put pink ones on just to use up the pink that I have. Then the boy blanket will be light green and light blue. maybe with white tassles. Not quite sure yet.
There's only one more thing to talk about before I go. One of my Cookie Jar Sisters recently went to a David Cook concert, and she took a video of my favorite band memeber, Mr. Neal "Doctor" Tiemann, saying hi to me!! Ahhh!!! I actually recieved a text message this morning, but I erased it cause I thought that it was just an error. But a few hours later, my CJS called, and asked me if I got it, and I said that I didn't, then she asked me if I got something on my phone, then I realized it was from her!!! lol. Stupid phone doesn't accept messages with vids or pics!!! AHHHHHH!!! LOL. So, I've decided that when this phone's contract runs out, I'm getting myself a high tech one, that can do all that crazy stuff!!! I don't want to risk that happening anymore!!! lol. Okay, that's all I gotta say for now! Tootles!!!!

My Uncle is FINALLY engaged!!!!!!
First off, I want to tell everyone Happy (belated) Valentine's Day! My Valentine's Day was just like any other.....spent single, and I didn't get a dang thing, unless I would have bought myself something, but, to be totally honest, I didn't feel like it. LOL. Well, anyway, let's get to the explanation of this blog's title. My uncle is FINALLY engaged!!! WOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! LOL.
Her name is Gerri. She's a few years older than my Uncle, whose name is David by the way. They've been dating for maybe a little over 2 years, and we've always teased him about getting married, but never really realized that it would actually ever happen, and I do mean ever happen. I myself, honestly thought that it would never happen, but it happened and all I can say is "YAAAAAAYYYY"!!!!!!!! There's no date set yet, and apparently my grandmother who lives with my uncle, said that she is not going to be living with them when they are engaged, but they aren't even going to be living together until they are married, which they don't have a date set yet, but she is planning to sell her home and move in with him. If this ring could be given a name, I would call it Simple Elegance. It is a .5 carat princess cut solitaire. My dream ring!!! AHH!!!! LOL. She was married before, and her two girls are very happy! So now I have two new cousins, Melissa and Stephanie. Well, now actually that makes two cousins named Stephanie, and then Melissa. Another aunt of mine on the same side of the family has a daughter named Stephanie. So, anyway, I'm so excited about this, I can barely type, and I have to keep backspacing. LOL. I told her that I am going to do the floral arrangements and then she told me that her hairdresser (we have the same one) told her that I was teaching myself floral design. My mother pretty much rolled her eyes when I said it, but I am going to really get my butt going on this, so I can make the most beautiful arrangements for this wedding. I am shaking so bad!! I need to breathe!!! lol. *breathing deep* lol. I just thought this day was never going to happen! I'm just wondering if I will be part of the wedding. Hmm? It would be the first wedding that I would actually ever be in instead of just at. I hate to make assumptions, but I am his niece and he is closest with his twin sister, which is my mother, and my sister is his goddaughter, but then again , I could be totally wrong, and they may end up just going away and getting hitched. Who knows? *Thinks and taps fingers on keyboard* What else is there to write about? Oh, my baby blanket is coming along fine. I decided to make it orchid purple and light yellow, and then maybe the boy one will be baby blue and green. Hmm?? Yeah, sounds like a plan to me. So, anywho, that's all there is to say really. Hahah!!! I am just in total shock! This is so cool! He never even said anything (to us kids) but of course, told mom, because of course she's apparently a really good secret keeper. LOL. There's no doubt about it though, she is. Okay, well I'm gonna go upstairs and make myself a milkshake and do some more baby blanket work, and hopefully, will post some pictures of my projects on Facebook tomorrow. :) Talk to you all later!!!

I'm gonna be an "aunt"!!!!!
I just got online a few minutes ago, and my cell is down here too, because I forgot to take it upstairs lastnight when I went to bed. Out of habit, I checked it to see if I have any missed calls or text messages...and I have 1 missed text. It is from one of my best friends, Nicole. And as you can probably tell from the title of this blog, you can guess what she told me. At first I was excited, then it all went to shock and me feeling bad for her. Here's my story.
All through grade school to high school, I put myself in the group of people that weren't really popular with the rest of the crowd, and never really truly fit into any of the other groups or "clicks" they were in. I, myself, being in a wheelchair, and being sort of embarrassed about that, voluntarily put myself with these people, which of course, included Nicole. I mostly hung around with Holly, Angela, Erica, and Nicole. Erica moved ot Florida in freshman year of high school, but, is now living in South Carolina with her son Xavier and husband James. Xavier was born before they were married. She had him when she was just about to turn 20. Angela, has two young children, and as far as I know, still isn't married to the father. Holly has had a few boyfriends here and there, but doesn't have/doesn't want to have children. I never expected this news to come from Nicole. But, now that I think about it, she was always the shyest one in the group, claimed to have a boyfriend here and there, but it never lasted more than a month. But now for her to tell me that she's pregnant....that's a complete shocker. She told me that she found out last month and is due in August. Her parents are going to help her out with as much as they can, or so she told me. The father doesn't know yet, but he apparently told her that he wants to talk to her about something. Oh geez!!! I hope he is planning to stick around. Like I said before, at first I was excited, then shock set in, then me feeling bad for her. Another thing about her was/is that she has very low self-esteem. I think it was because she always used to be made fun of in school, doesn't have the best home life. Her dad is a trucker, so I assume she doesn't get to see him very often, and the first time I met her mother, she didn't even say hello or look at me, because she was too busy yelling at Nicole for not calling her and telling her that she needed picked up after school, because her and I were doing some activities for the upcoming Special Olympics event at our high school. Well, anyway, I need to make her something now, or buy her something. I am not sure if she's going to find out what she's having or not. So, if I make blankets, I'm gonna make an all-pink one, and then one that is all blue. She told me she is going to let me know when the baby shower is. If I don't make her something, I'll at least send her a card. Okay, now that I am thinking about this more, I'm getting very excited. *shrieks!* I gotta get started on a blanket! More blogging later!!!

Hello there again...
It's 3:21 in the afternoon, and it's been a pretty good day so far. American Idol is on again tonight, with more Hollywood auditions, and so I am super excited to see my Danny Gokey sing his wonderful little heart out. The DIY Floral Design is going great so far. I have been watching YouTube videos, and researching what flowers bloom in which season, and I have to say, it is all very interesting. My friend from Ohio wants me to do the arrangements for her wedding. I'm pretty excited about that. Dad got another call from his friend Chuck today, and it pretty much looks like the job is in the clear for him, but I'm not sure when he starts. I gotta say, it's been good to have him home, but at the same time, there are times when he's at your heels, following you like a sad little puppy because he's either hungry and just doesn't want to cook, or he's just plainly bored out of his mind, because he's done all he could do with housework and outside work. *Thinking of other things to talk about* I can't believe it's already 2009. Where has the time gone? It was just like yesterday that my brother was starting kindergarten, and now he's a junior in high school. AHHH!!! LOL. My sister just transferred to Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and she is liking it. She's majoring in Speech Pathology, and with all the "crap courses" that she took at the community college her and I went to together, she may only have up to 2 years, because all of the credits from the CC transferred. Um, what else is there to say? Well, I'm interested in another guy, but that's nothing new. I'm always crushing on someone these days. Um, oh, the David Cook solo tour is starting up next week. It's just a college tour, which is kind of a bummer, and a lot of people aren't happy about it because 1) he's not coming to their college or 2) the college is only allowing the students to attend the show. Plus, he's requested a 1,000 seat limit anyway. For me, it's okay though, because well, 1) I'm in a wheelchair and so it's gonna be heck to get good seats anyway, and 2) I think I'm one of the few people that have come to the realization that this college tour isn't going to the be the only tour that he's ever going to do. Hopefully, he'll book the Bryce Jordan Center in the *very near future*. I went to a BSB concert there in 2001, and I had 5th row, center seats if I remember right. The show lasted about 2 1/2 hours. Maybe I can get a short list of PA concert venues together, and e-mail him on his personal site. That would be awesome if he booked a show at least at the BJC. I would pretty much fall over out of my chair. *Daydreams* Okay, well, that's about all I have for now. Hope everyone has a great week!

Let me introduce myself...
Well, hello there. Since this blog is called "Let me introduce myself", let me do just that. My name is Niki, and I am from South Fork, Pa. I was born on January 24, 1987, with Spina Bifida. I am the eldest of three children. I have a younger sister, who is exactly 19 months younger than me, and then I have a younger brother. I have blue/gray eyes, and reddish-brown dyed hair, with newly added blonde highlights. It's a little past my shoulders. My favorite hobbies include listening to music (pop, rock, country, and oldies). I love to crochet too. I'm not that great at it yet, but I'm getting there. I can make baby blankets, scarves, dishcloths and afghans. I also like to read too. I love romance novels, and romantic movies. I spend a lot of time on Facebook and Myspace. Backtracking to the music portion of this blog, I am a HUGE David Cook fan. I think him winnning AI last year was about that greatest thing that ever happened to the music industry. He's pretty much "the man" in my book. I already know who's going to win this year too-Danny Gokey!!! :) He's got major talent, and it just needs to be shared with the world. He's pretty much the only reason I'll be watching this year. I come from a strong Catholic family. I attend church every Sunday. My dad is from a family of eleven kids. My mother comes from a family of five, and she is a fraternal twin to my uncle. I have a lot of cousins. I have family living in PA, TN, NY, FL, CO and KS. I graduated from Pennsylvania Highlands Community College here in PA with a degree in Medical Assistant, but since the economy is very low at this time, and hospitals among other places are laying off many workers, I never found a job in that line of work, so I am teaching myself floral design, and I hope to specialize in Wedding Floral Design someday. I won't be getting a degree in it of course, but, I always love to watch weddings on TV, so I thought that it would be the perfect thing for me to go into, since I love to be crafty and work with my hands. Hmm? What else is there to say? Not really sure. Oh well. I guess that's it for now. This blog was actually supposed to be my second, but somehow the first one got erased, and when I went to login, I couldn't remember my password, so I had to make a new account. Well, hope you enjoyed reading a little bit about me. Hopefully I'll be blogging again soon! Have a great night!
